It was a wonderful summer evening, and the hearts and brains team gathered unsuspectingly at Zurich’s main train station – but what happened next, no one could have anticipated… except for Jocy!

Jocy, our organizational talent, arranged our summer event. We suspected that the first activity would involve team-building and collaboration. But none of us expected to be locked together in an escape room, handcuffed to each other.

Visibly bewildered, we first had to adjust to the situation and the prison feeling for a few milliseconds before we turned our cell upside down. There isn’t much in such a dreary room – a bunk bed with a duvet, a book, a nightstand, a chessboard, and that’s about it. But what was hidden behind the bars was of great importance to us.

So, we started somewhat aimlessly, gathering clues and items. But soon, we needed to bring some structure to the chaos. After all, we wanted to free ourselves from the cell together as the hearts and brains team. Clues flew around the room, ideas bubbled up, step by step, we managed to remove the handcuffs, open the first doors, use creativity in an organized manner, listen to each other, and let each other speak, and then… then we had solved all the puzzles and even escaped from the cell 5 minutes before the set time.

Admittedly, we were unjustly imprisoned there! The “breakout” was a complete success for us as a team and loads of fun!

Afterwards, we enjoyed dinner & drinks at Nenis on Langstrasse. There were summery drinks, a generous oriental appetizer platter, and Korean Fried Chicken. Who would have thought that after our prison stay, there would be such delicious food?! – And not just water and bread. Thank god it’s Friday, thank god we got out of the escape room!

Thank you, dear team, for this successful summer event, and thank you, Jocy, for the superb organization! It was a perfect introduction for me as a new team member to get to know my “mates” better outside of the workday routine!
